#MotherhoodRocks: Mom, Want Your Children to Feel Inner Peace During the Holidays? Read on... by Gail Harris

Want your children to feel inner peace during the holidays? You must feel your own! And it’s not enough to agree with me and not commit. Sure, the holidays are wonderful, but the craze – the bombardment, hype and over-stimulation everywhere – on the Internet, TV and social media. It’s hard for us moms not to lose ourselves. (Just because the iPhone X is out doesn’t mean we need one.) And we’re grown adults!
Our kids are not equipped to handle it. They’re really not. I have a teen, and I think they’re the most vulnerable. The peer pressure alone is enough without their trying to figure out who they are in the midst of the holiday pressures and anxieties. But every kid is vulnerable.
Which brings me back to you. Mom, make some new habits. Don’t lag back, but act on the highest impulse. Bring yourself back to yourself then your child will have a chance. You’ll set proper boundaries and limits. Know when to say yes and no. You’ll be your child’s holiday beacon without even saying a word. To find my inner sanction, I meditate, walk, read, practice deep breathing. Each of us has to find our own way.
So, find yours. And have a peaceful and joyous holiday.
