The year 2026 is all about energy – and not the kind you plug into a wall. The kind that fuels your soul, guides your emotions and helps you make decisions based on the realities you want to create. Earlier this year, Taylor Swift brought energy into the spotlight when she discussed how important it is to protect it and recognize our energy as an expensive luxury item that not everyone can afford.
2026 is the year to make this a reality. Here's what’s in and what’s out in 2026 when it comes to mastering our energy, and why it’s so important to our mental health.
1. Keeping Quiet Is OUT. Protecting Energy Is IN
Ever feel like you have to stifle your thoughts and feelings so that you don’t offend someone else? Have you noticed that keeping quiet makes your energy rife with negativity? To fully protect our energy, let those feelings out. This doesn’t necessarily mean confronting someone – you can write down your feelings, go for a walk to clear your head, or if necessary, talk to the person and share your point of view. Once you are able to release those emotions, you can make clear decisions on what to do next and if that relationship, whether friendship or romantic, is worth continuing.
2. Self-Deprecation Is OUT. Self-Compassion Is IN
Ever make a mistake and question your own intelligence? “Gah I am so stupid!” Many of us have "been there, done that" and are leaving it behind in 2025. In 2026, it’s all about self-compassion, because showing ourselves love after a mistake or a moment of vulnerability is the key to neutralizing our energy. This can help us move past feelings of stress, anxiety and self-doubt.
3. Survival Mode Is OUT. Flow Is IN
In a survival state, our energy vibrates in flight, fright or freeze mode. It dampens our clarity and we that are not based in reality, but what we perceived to be a threat. To be in a state of flow means to be in a place of neutrality, where our decisions are rooted in clarity and not emotion, and our decisions are clear and align more with our desired outcomes.
4. Conforming to Others Is OUT. Embracing Your Authentic Self Is IN
When we put in the inner work and embrace who we truly are, the universe follows and as a result we cultivate healthier relationships, pursue career paths that align with our values and bring to fruition the realities we wish to create.
5. “I’ll Try” Is OUT. “I will” Is IN.
The word “try” splits your energy and tells your mind that there’s an escape hatch. Basically, it sets you up to fail. Instead, say, “I will.” That shift in manifestation of language gives you back your power and energy.
