Can Tea Help Prevent Alzheimer's Disease & Cognitive Decline? Maybe! by Nicole DeAvilla

Can Tea Help Prevent Alzheimer's Disease & Cognitive Decline? Maybe!

I love tea. My favorite is black tea chai made with soy drink and delicious essential oils. Research suggests that we should all drink to our health – tea that is. Because of tea’s high levels of antioxidants, it is already associated with a lower risk of cancerheart disease and diabetes. Evidence shows that tea may stave off cognitive decline as well.

Researchers at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine studied nearly 1,000 Chinese participants aged 55 and older and published their findings in The Journal of Nutrition, Health & Aging. The daily tea drinkers had a 50 percent lower risk of cognitive decline. And those at risk for Alzheimer’s had a whopping 86 percent lower risk for cognitive decline!

The next time someone says, “Want to meet for tea?” Say, “Yes!” Read more about tea and cognitive decline via MNT.
