Calorie Quiz: The Shocking Truth About Donuts, Juice & Lattes!

Which has fewer calories?

  • A Starbucks Iced Flavored Latte (grande with 2% milk) or two Krispy Kreme donuts?
  • A 15.2-ounce Minute Maid Apple Juice or nine Oreo cookies?
  • A 23-ounce can of Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng & Honey or 19 Hershey’s Kisses?
  • A 16-ounce Dunkin Donuts Iced Caramel Latte or three Krispy Kreme donuts?

In every case the drink has more sugar! Sugary drinks have crept into our diets. Drinks that we thought were healthy or at least neutral have turned out to have a whopping dose of sugar in every gulp! Read the label and you just might treat yourself to a little candy – guilt free!

I thought I "knew" that these drinks were loaded with sugar but the donut comparisons really got me to see how much!

Jamba Juice's classic fruit smoothies average between 53-77 grams of sugar for a small. A large Strawberry Surf Rider has a whopping 128 grams of sugar. Might as well hook your pancreas up to a car battery! So many people are duped when it comes to thinking if it's made with fruit it's healthy. Sugar is sugar and fructose is the sweetest of all. Lots of interesting facts concerning fructose available online and you can ask your doc too.
