Sheet-pan recipes are some of my favorites for their ease of cooking and cleanup. This sheet-pan gnocchi recipe with broccoli and sausage has all the great ingredients of a one-dish dinner. With crisp gnocchi (potato dumplings), roasted broccoli and sweet or spicy Italian sausage, this sheet-pan recipe is a keeper. The combination of Italian ingredients has such a wonderful mix of flavors, and it is a filling dish without being heavy at all.
This wonderful high-protein gnocchi recipe is ready for the oven in 10 minutes and on the table – from start to finish – in about 30 minutes! Here is your shopping list for this simple Italian sheet-pan dinner: shelf-stable gnocchi (on the pasta aisle), fresh broccoli (check out the health benefits of broccoli), extra-virgin olive oil, fresh garlic or shallots, Italian sausage, Parmesan cheese and a lemon for juicing. If you like it spicy, add some crushed red pepper flakes.
This Italian recipe is a complete dinner, but you could add some garlic bread or a fresh, crispy salad on the side.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 to 25 minutes
Total Time: 30 to 35 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 12 - 18 ounces (1 package) shelf-stable gnocchi
- 2 large heads broccoli (about 1 pound), cut into florets
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 shallots or 4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped (or both)
- 1 pound Italian sausage (hot, mild, regular or sweet)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan, plus more for serving
- juice from 1/2 a lemon
- crushed red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
Here's how to make it:
- Place a piece of parchment on a large sheet pan. Add the gnocchi, broccoli, olive oil, shallots or garlic, a good pinch of salt and crushed red pepper flakes, if using, to the sheet pan. Toss to coat everything. Remove the casings from the sausage and pinch into 1-inch pieces. Place the sausage on top of the broccoli and gnocchi. The sausage will be about the size of small meatballs. (To make this recipe gluten-free, use gluten-free gnocchi.)
- Bake in a preheated 425-degree F oven for about 20 to 25 minutes. The sausage will be cooked and the gnocchi and broccoli nice and brown. Remove from the oven and squeeze the lemon juice over the top and then sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese. Toss again.
- Serve with more Parmesan and crushed red pepper flakes, if desired. Enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
