Easy Berry Blast Smoothie Recipe: The Perfect Combination of Sweet & Tart to Energize Your Day by Elisa Schmitz

Easy Berry Blast Smoothie Recipe: The Perfect Combination of Sweet & Tart to Energize Your Day

One of the best parts of summer is all the farm-fresh berries to use in our recipes. Blueberries and raspberries are the perfect combination of sweet and tart to energize your day. I'm loving these bountiful berries in everything from snacks to desserts to smoothies.

Blueberries and raspberries are superfoods, potent sources of antioxidants that help protect your cells from damage by free radicals. Blueberries help prevent cholesterol, improve heart and bone health, and can help with blood pressure and diabetes.

Raspberries are a great source of fiber and they provide more than half of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C, a nutrient essential for immune function and iron absorption. Blueberries and raspberries also contain many other nutrients and health benefits but, best of all, these beautiful berries offer are ideal for smoothie recipes.

This easy berry blast smoothie recipe is a great way to jumpstart your day nutritiously and deliciously. All you need for this energizing berry blast smoothie are blueberries, raspberries, milk, a banana, orange juice, yogurt and a few ice cubes. In just about five minutes, you've got a refreshing beverage that'll kick-off your morning, brighten up your afternoon, or healthfully satisfy a craving for sweets any time of day.

Recipe Notes

  • If you don't have fresh blueberries or raspberries, you can use frozen berries.
  • For a more shake-like consistency, you can use a frozen banana (or two).
  • To make this smoothie dairy-free, you can use dairy-free milk (I used almond milk) and dairy-free yogurt (I used coconut-milk-based yogurt).
  • To add even more nutrition, you can add a teaspoon of flaxseed or protein powder.
  • I used biodegradable paper straws, which are better for the environment than plastic straws.

Here's how you make it:

  1. Put all the ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into your favorite smoothie glasses and enjoy the berry blast!
