Holy Yum Chicken Recipe: This Baked Chicken Recipe Just Works

Holy yum, this chicken dinner is good. Maybe that's why it went viral! This easy, delicious chicken recipe is similar to man pleasin' chicken, but this recipe is made with bone-in chicken thighs and the sauce is thickened then poured over the chicken before serving. Interesting, right?

This gluten-free chicken recipe is super easy to make. Start by mixing Dijon mustard, pure maple syrup and rice wine vinegar. Pour the mixture over chicken in a baking dish. Bake until the chicken is cooked through. Then, remove the chicken to a serving plate and pour the liquid from the baking dish into a saucepot. Bring the mixture to a boil and whisk in some cornstarch to thicken. Serve the sauce over the chicken.

Serve this trending chicken recipe with rice or your favorite potatoes to soak up the flavorful sauce, along with your favorite vegetable

Recipe Notes

  • Like a crust on your chicken? Dust it in a little flour before putting it into the baking dish.
  • If you're not a fan of rosemary, omit it or use your favorite herb.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Place it into a baking dish.
  2. Combine the mustard, maple syrup and rice wine vinegar in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Pour the mixture over the chicken thighs.
  3. Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
  4. Remove the chicken to a serving plate. Pour all the liquid into a saucepot. Bring to a simmer and whisk in cornstarch. Cook until it thickens, about 1 minute.
  5. Pour the sauce over the chicken and garnish with rosemary.

Mmm. This is a surefire winner-winner chicken dinner! #yum
Wtf
I will never understand the fascination some people have with coating meat in sugar. Disgusting.

And I'm from direct German descent - I love vinegar and mustard. But on chicken? Seriously... Wtf.

I'm 99% convinced most of the recipe websites, including this one, are ENTIRELY AI generated. Because the flavor combinations as well as the measurement amounts aren't palatable.

No, I will not make "mustard and maple syrup chicken." It just doesn't make sense.

If this was a roast with a tough cut of beef, then sure. But I can't possibly fathom how horrible your chicken must be that you think this recipe is a good idea.

Idk, maybe covid really f-ed up taste for people permanently. Maybe this sort of recipe is going to become normal until the next generation comes along that can taste food again. But until then, seriously... All I can say is "Wtf"

Not very sweet of you. Lighten up.

Hey, it's two oz of maple syrup. Give me a break.

Your chicken must be tasteless...wtf! Never heard of vinegar on chicken either? Wow go crawl back under your rock, you are rude so I figured I'd join in on the rudeness you hand out!
Gwen Johnson
This chicken is incredibly delicious! I would suggest you try the recipe first before dogging on it.
Peggy Burns
Don't you have anything better to do than act like that? I have German in me too, that's no excuse to act like that. Either you like it or you don't. But it appears to me you never even made the recipe but yet you use a potty mouth about it. SMH

Hi, maybe you should read my comment below and chill out. I'm Italian- Canadian and I'm willing to explore on different techniques on cooking chicken. Except for deep fried my cardiologist won't approve. Yes, we all come from different backgrounds and cook differently from others, but there's no reason to shame someone for such a wonderful family recipe. You're just being mean. My husband owned a restaurant and I worked in two restaurants with different menus. I guess you like boring chicken.
Becca Swing
Wow. You could just click off the blog if you don't like the recipe? Sorry no one told you that.

Man Pleasin' chicken is one of my daughter's favorite recipes. The ingredients may sound strange, but they turn out delicious. Love how this recipe has the sauce poured over the top. We love our sauces. food: This Man Pleasin' Baked Chicken Recipe Just Won't Go Away (4 Ingredients)

Can you use boneless chicken breast and cook it in a crockpot?
Donna John
This is the similar recipe that uses boneless chicken thighs. I've never cooked it in a crock pot, so not sure about the timing. But it should work. food: This Man Pleasin' Baked Chicken Recipe Just Won't Go Away (4 Ingredients)

We all come from different background...what's nasty to you may be good for me....why putting down someone's recipe with a nasty comment. Show respect and keep it moving. A good Manner comes a long way at the end of the day.

I've made this recipe before in the summer time on my BBQ grill. There's nothing wrong with coating your meat in sugar. It is not disgusting but people do it anyway without noticing it. For all you people who used a bad comment about putting vinegar and sugar on meat is gross, how about all those BBQ sauces and ketchup sauces that you'd use during the summer BBQ. If you you can read a label, it clearly says in the ingredients that the company puts vinegar and sugars like brown sugar or molasses into their BBQ sauces. I suggest that you don't judge a book by it's cover it is really rude and unfair to the author.
Suzanne Graham
Do I bake the chicken covered??

Also, WTF’s biggest problem isn’t sugar and meat…..just sayin’.
Donna John
Do not cover. :-)
robertdctrey
So when it says to add all liquids to a sauce pan to make the sauce, does that include the juices from the baked chicken since we're waiting until it has cooked to start the sauce?
Donna John
Yes, everything in the pan goes into the saucepot to reduce.
robertdctrey
I thought so! Thanks!
candylynn706
I ate and loved my german grandmas baked chicken for 30 years before learning her secret recipe of coating the chicken in vinegar and peanut butter! So please dont judge....if you dont like to experiment or try new things keep your rude comments to yourself and move on. I appreciate this site for interesting recipes that make trying different techniques fun.
Elisa Schmitz
Thank you so much for your kind comment, candylynn706 ! We appreciate your feedback very much!

I really want to try this but I'm trying to avoid using the oven when it's too hot, the house gets heated quickly. Anyone know how long to cook this in a slow cooker?
Donna John
I don't cook chicken much in the slow cooker, but most times it 3 to 4 hours on high. Let us know how it turns out!
