This brought me to tears, Jan Mostrom . My dog, Cocoa, is 17 years old and we got her when she was 6 weeks old. I try not to dwell on her age and just enjoy her. Old lady her! :-) She may get a trip to the park today.

Donna John I agree, we have to just love them while they are here and that's the gift of everyday. Have fun with Cocoa!!!!!

Ironically, I just finished watching "Inside the Mind of a Dog" and am already sniffling . Your story brought tears to my eyes again! We adopted our two a couple months after I lost my last sweet girl, Ava, when I couldn't imagine a Christmas without a dog. We intended to get one and came home with two (puppies no less)!! Happy National Dog Day from my shagamuffins, Archie and Daisy!

Terri Kendrick I love this and that you sent a photo. I want to meet them!

This is beautiful, Jan Mostrom . Having known Zak and now Gracie, I know how special they both are and how much a part of the family they are. Our yellow lab, Lucky, was the same blessing to us and pets continue to be a part of my kids' lives now as young adults. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Elisa Schmitz yes Lucky as so special and now there is Sunny! We are so blessed to have these sweet ones in our lives.
