Why struggle to decide whether to have a slice of pecan pie or a fudgy brownie when you can have both in one delicious bite? Trust me when I say this recipe is truly special, and your holiday dessert table will never be the same!
To make this crazy good pecan pie brownies recipe, here are the 10 ingredients you'll need to gather: butter, chocolate chips, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, salt, unsweetened cocoa powder, flour and chopped pecans. The bourbon is optional, but adds unique flavor to the pecan pie layer. You make the rich and chewy brownie layer first, then bake it. You make the pecan pie layer next, then bake it on top of the brownie layer. The result is two layers of decadence in one sensational dessert!
I served this sweet, chewy, fudgy and crunchy treat as a holiday dessert that got rave reviews from my family. These are decadent enough on their own, but for an extra-special touch, serve with a dollop of bourbon whipped cream, if desired. Everyone agreed that these incredible pecan pie brownies need to have a permanent place of honor on our holiday dessert table.

Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour and 20 minutes

Ingredients
Brownie Layer
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup flour (all-purpose or gluten-free flour)
Pecan Pie Layer
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 3 cups chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon bourbon (optional)
Here's how to make it:
- First, make the brownie layer. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- After butter is melted, remove it from heat. Add the chocolate chips and stir to coat the chips in the butter. Let the chocolate sit in the butter for a few minutes, then whisk to fully combine. (You can use milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips. I used milk chocolate).
- In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla and salt. Whisk to combine. Add melted chocolate mixture and whisk to combine.
- Add cocoa powder and flour, breaking up any lumps (you also can sift them, but I didn't need to). Stir to combine. (You can use all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour. I used GF 1:1 flour.)
- Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray, then line it with parchment paper. Pour the brownie batter into the baking pan.
- Bake in a preheated 325-degree F oven for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Remove from oven.
- While the brownies are baking, make the pecan pie layer. In a medium mixing bowl, add the eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, salt, melted butter and bourbon, if using. Whisk to combine. Add the pecans and stir to combine.
- After the brownie layer is baked, evenly spread the pecan pie mixture over the brownies.
- Return the baking pan to the oven for about 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pecan pie layer is set and golden brown.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
- Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired Store the pecan pie brownies in an airtight container. Better yet, make extra and give some away in a holiday cookie tin!
