Gingerbread is one of my favorite things to make around the holidays – and we love everything gingerbread! From gingerbread cheesecake to gingerbread cookies to gingerbread ice cream to gingerbread muffins, you can't go wrong baking anything gingerbread.
Brownies are another favorite year-round, so when I found a recipe for gingerbread brownies, they were almost mixed up and in the oven before the printer could finish printing out the recipe! I am so glad I discovered this easy gingerbread brownie recipe! This dessert recipe is loaded with that gingerbread taste we've all come to know and love – and they're so easy to make! I've already made them five times, and plan on serving them on Christmas Eve.
To make these moist, irresistible, low-sodium brownies you will need butter, brown sugar, eggs, molasses, vanilla extract, flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Mix the dry ingredients together, the wet ingredients together, combine, pour into a baking pan and bake for about 30 minutes.
Serve these aromatic holiday brownies for dessert on Thanksgiving or Christmas, or just because you need some gingerbread in your life. They would be a wonderful addition to your holiday food gifts and cookie trays.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 20
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- large pinch of salt
Here's how to make it:
- Whisk the melted butter and brown sugar together in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Stir in the eggs, molasses and vanilla.
- In another mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, ground cinnamon, baking powder and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until combined.
- Spread the batter into a 9x9-inch square baking pan that's been lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 30 minutes or until set. (My brownies were slightly underdone when I cut them. Now that's how many family requests them. If you don't want gooey brownies, bake them the full 35 minutes.)
- Remove and cool completely..
- Cut into squares. (Because they're so rich, I cut them into 20 small squares.) Store the brownies in an airtight container.
