I am not a fan of cole slaw. But when I saw this slaw dressing atop a beautiful Asian slaw I knew it was right up my alley! Try this simple homemade cole slaw dressing on a stir fry, Asian salad or on this beautiful asian slaw recipe for a delicious and different recipe tonight.
This isn't your typical mayonnaise-based cole slaw dressing! This Asian-inspired dressing is mayo-free and contains strong Asian flavors. Not only that, but you get the health benefits of olive oil and the health benefits of ginger.
To make this simple, savory dressing, you need the following ingredients: olive oil, toasted sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, a sweetener (honey, maple syrup, agave nectar), soy sauce, fresh garlic, fresh ginger, salt and optional crushed red pepper flakes or cayenne for a little kick.
Use this Asian slaw dressing on cabbage slaws, Asian-style salads and it's even delicious in a chicken or vegetable stir fry recipe. How will you use it?

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil (see Recipe Notes)
- 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey, maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce or regular soy sauce
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Recipe Notes
- Don't worry if you don't have sesame oil. You can use more olive oil or another oil like avocado, grapeseed or sunflower seed with 1 teaspoon sesame seeds.
- Gluten-free alternatives to soy sauce are gluten-free soy sauce, coconut aminos or tamari.
Here's how to make it:
- Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl or jar.
- Stir or whisk to combine.
