Savory Smoked Paprika Baked Salmon Recipe (4 Ingredients, 20 Minutes) by Elisa Schmitz

Savory Smoked Paprika Baked Salmon Recipe (4 Ingredients, 20 Minutes)

You know how when you find an ingredient that seems to make most anything taste better, you want to put it on everything? These days, that's how I'm feeling about smoked paprika.

Because there are several varieties of paprika, you may be wondering what, exactly, smoked paprika is and what it tastes like. According to the University of Illinois, paprika is made by grinding different varieties of dried mild red peppers. "There are three different types [of paprika] to choose from, including sweet, hot or smoked. The differences between the three are dependent upon the variety of the peppers ... Smoked paprika is made from peppers that are dried by way of smoking. It imparts a smoky flavor to the dish that may or may not add a spicy heat as well."

Now, imagine that smoky, peppery flavor on salmon. Yes, it's absolutely as delicious as it sounds! This savory smoked paprika baked salmon recipe has a compelling flavor. Plus, it's so easy to make that we'll be enjoying it over and over again.

Here's what you need to make this gluten-free seafood dinner recipe: fresh salmon, orange juice, smoked paprika and garlic powder. That's it! You spread the ingredients over the salmon in a baking dish. You then bake the low-sodium salmon for only about 15 minutes. So simple but so flavorful!

I served this succulent salmon with my spinach artichoke mashed potato casserole for a low-calorie, high-protein meal. It would be delicious served with rice, pasta or your favorite side dishes.

Recipe Notes

  • I prefer to squeeze my own fresh orange juice, but you can use bottled orange juice in a pinch.
  • You can try this recipe with fresh lemon juice instead of orange juice.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in the microwave.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Place the salmon filet in a casserole dish or baking pan (I lined mine with aluminum foil for easier cleanup). Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Pour the orange juice over the salmon.
  2. Sprinkle the smoked paprika and garlic powder over the salmon.
  3. Bake the salmon at 375 degrees F for about 15 minutes, or until desired doneness. Salmon is done when it reaches 145 degrees F on a food thermometer.
  4. Remove from oven and serve with your favorite side dishes.
