My obsession with homemade whipped cream continues. Experimenting with homemade whipped cream recipes is as fun as it is delicious! My latest creation is this salted caramel whipped cream recipe. In a word: OMG!

If you're a fan of salted caramel, this easy whipped cream recipe will knock your sweet socks off. This decadent dessert recipe has all the sweet flavor of salted caramel with all the creamy richness of whipped cream. With only two ingredients, it's ready to serve in just five minutes!

This gluten-free whipped cream treat is so easy to make – all you need is heavy whipping cream and salted caramel sauce. If you want a little extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional). Using an electric mixer, you beat the ingredients until stiff peaks form. The whole process takes five minutes!

I served this low-sodium whipped cream as a topping for brownies and chocolate chip scones and it was incredible. It would be amazing on top of apple pie, hot chocolate or ice cream, too!

• 4 tablespoons salted caramel sauce
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional

Recipe Notes

• I used Stonewall Kitchen brand Sea Salt Caramel Sauce, but you can use any brand of caramel sauce you prefer. You also can make your own salted caramel sauce.
  

• You can use more or less caramel sauce, depending on how sweet you want the whipped cream to be.

• I used an electric mixer, but you could try to make it without one by using a whisk and beating the ingredients rapidly until peaks form.

• I used regular heavy whipping cream, but you could try this recipe with non-dairy whipping cream, too. When I've tried it in the past, the peaks did not get as stiff but it was still yummy.

• You can drizzle a bit of caramel sauce over the whipped cream as a garnish, if desired.

• You can easily double this recipe and store it in the refrigerator until you're ready to use it.

• Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You also can freeze it.

Here's how to make it:

1. To the bowl of your electric mixer, add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract, if using. Beat on medium to high speed until cream starts to thicken, about 1 to 2 minutes.
   
2. Add the salted caramel sauce. Beat on medium to high speed until stiff peaks form, about 2 minutes.
   
3. Serve over your favorite desserts or on its own with a spoon. Top with a drizzle of caramel sauce, if desired.
