I'm addicted to making homemade whipped cream. Making your own whipped cream at home is so easy, and the results are absolutely amazing. This luscious peppermint whipped cream recipe is beyond delicious. It's like a cup full of Christmas!
After making this easy bourbon whipped cream recipe, which is like happiness on a spoon, I decided to try my hand at making peppermint whipped cream to top our hot chocolate this holiday season. One word: WOW! It's so rich and refreshing, it could be a dessert on its own. Plus, it's so festive, I'm making it all winter long.
This gluten-free whipped cream treat is so easy to make and only requires four ingredients: heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, peppermint extract and crushed peppermint candy. If you want to get fancy, you can add a drop or two of red food coloring. Using an electric mixer, you beat the ingredients until stiff peaks form. The whole thing takes less than 10 minutes!
Because we have some folks in our family who don't eat dairy, I've made this recipe using both heavy whipping cream and non-dairy whipping cream, and both versions are delicious (though the heavy whipping cream makes a richer whipped cream). I used a mortar and pestle to crush up a few candy canes. You also could use hard peppermint candies. Feel free to crush some extra to add on top later as an optional garnish.
Serve this delicious low-sodium whipped cream all on its own or as a topping for hot chocolate, chocolate cupcakes, ice cream and even brownies. However you enjoy it, I hope you'll agree that it's irresistible. Grab a spoon and enjoy a cup full of the creamy goodness!
