The shortcut secret in this recipe is using frozen wontons instead of making them homemade, which takes a lot of time and some practice.
The unbelievably easy wonton soup recipe starts with chicken broth, garlic and ginger, which cooks about five minutes to infuse the flavors. Frozen wontons are added and cooked until tender. Stir in a little soy sauce and sesame oil, and you have a flavorful wonton soup in no time. Don't forget to sprinkle with fresh chopped green onions for freshness and even more flavor (plus you get the health benefits of green onions, also known as scallions).

Ingredients
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 1 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced thin
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 ounces (1 package) frozen wontons
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Here's how to make it:
- Pour the chicken broth into a soup pot. Add the ginger and garlic. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 5 minutes.
- Add the frozen wontons and cook until wontons are heated through, about 4 to 5 minutes. Use whatever type of frozen wonton you like – vegetable, shrimp, pork or chicken. Some Asian restaurants and dumpling houses may even sell you some uncooked wontons. Ask! If not, check your grocer's freezer section.
- Stir in the soy sauce and sesame oil. (To reduce the sodium, use low-sodium soy sauce.) Garnish with chopped green onions, if desired. Store any leftover soup in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave.
