Creamed Pearl Onions Recipe: Creamy Baked Pearl Onions With Parmesan

The local farmer's market had a variety of pearl onions. Who could resist that? With a little cream, a little Parmesan and a little time in the oven, these tiny onions were the star of the meal. Fresh herbs, like rosemary, thyme or parsley, would be welcome to the pearl onion party.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • pearl onions
  • olive oil
  • heavy cream
  • freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Here's how to make it:

Cut the very ends off of the onions and carefully remove the skins.

Put the cleaned pearl onions in a baking dish. Drizzle with a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven about 30 minutes, or until tender and beginning to brown.

Pour a little heavy cream over the top and continue to bake until cream begins to bubble and thicken. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake about 5 minutes more. Serve.
