Kathy serves as Director of Quality and Research for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). She is a licensed clinical social worker and specialist in quality and performance measure development. Prior to her work with the national quality landscape, Kathy led quality improvement initiatives at a large social service agency supporting people with developmental disabilities, was as a clinical therapist for children, adolescents, and families, and taught high school English, ESL, Psychology, and World Cultures. Kathy received her BA in English Education from Duke University and her MSW from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is passionate about improving health care, violence prevention and conflict resolution, and promoting resilience through community building. She is a wife, stepmom, and warrior goddess!
