During Autism Awareness Month, educate yourself about autism spectrum disorder. Here are some things about autism you need to know:

• The prevalence of autism has risen to 1 in every 68 births in the U.S. 
• The Autism Society estimates that the cost of autism over the lifespan is about $2.4 million for a person with an intellectual disability, or $1.4 million for a person without intellectual disability. 
• When it comes to insurance, 45 states have required autism insurance coverage by law. Find out what your state requires.
