Leap Into Heart Health: 4 Easy Ways to Break Up With Bad Heart Health Habits

Now that Valentine’s Day has come and gone, here are four ways to help your heart by breaking up with those bad habits for good! Start today!

  • Reconcile with food. If you have a love-hate relationship with food, ditch the guilt and build a better foundation that includes lean meat, fruits and vegetables – and indulge in moderation.
  • Make a date with exercise. Shoot for 30 minutes a day, five days a week, and schedule exercise like you do a business meeting so you’re less inclined to skip it.
  • Don’t sweat the small stuff. Stress is bad for your heart, so avoid it when you can and practice rituals like reading or yoga to reduce anxiety before it affects your long-term health.
  • Focus on healthy connections. Friends and significant others are just as important to heart health as exercise and eating right, so make time to spend with the people who make your heart go pitter patter.
