Salmon is one of my go-to meals during the busy week because it's so quick and easy to make, and it's always delicious. There are certain recipes I keep going back to because they're extra simple and flavorful, and this easy roasted salmon recipe with a bourbon brown sugar glaze is one of those. Wow, is it good!
This succulent baked salmon recipe has a sweet and spicy bourbon glaze that makes the salmon so moist and delicious. The bourbon adds a unique flavor that makes this dish extra special. The recipe offers the health benefits of salmon, which is considered one of the most nutritious foods in the world. You'll appreciate the nutrition, but you'll eat because it tastes so good!
You need only four ingredients and about 20 minutes to make this simple seafood recipe. Here's what you need to whip up this incredibly tasty dinner tonight: fresh salmon, brown sugar, Dijon mustard and bourbon. You combine equal parts brown sugar and Dijon mustard, then add the bourbon, to create the decadent glaze. Next, spread most of the glaze over the salmon and pop it into the oven. When it's done baking, spread the remaining sauce over the salmon before serving, if you like. Easy!
Serve this irresistible gluten-free salmon with your favorite side dishes for an amazing dinner you won't soon forget. I served it with a chickpea salad for an incredibly delicious (and nutritious) meal!
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes (ovens vary)
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 3
Ingredients
- 1 pound (16 ounces) fresh salmon filet
- 2 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons bourbon
Recipe Notes
- The ratio of brown sugar and Dijon mustard can be tweaked according to your taste preferences. If you'd like it a bit sweeter, add more brown sugar. If you prefer the spice of the mustard to shine through, add a bit more Dijon.
- You can add more or less bourbon, depending on your preferences. If you prefer no bourbon, leave it out.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in the microwave.
Here's how to make it:
- Place the salmon filet, skin side down, in a casserole dish or baking pan (I lined mine with aluminum foil for easier cleanup). Season with salt and pepper, to taste, if desired.
- In a small mixing bowl or large measuring cup, add the brown sugar and mustard. Stir to combine. Add the bourbon and stir to combine.
- Spread about three quarters of the glaze evenly over the salmon then set the rest aside.
- Bake the salmon at 400 degrees F for about 12 to 15 minutes, or until desired doneness. Salmon is done when it reaches 145 degrees F on a food thermometer. Remove salmon from oven.
- Spread remaining glaze over the salmon, if desired, and serve.
