Baked Crispy Curry Fried Chicken Recipe Is All That & More (4 Ingredients) by Donna John

Baked Crispy Curry Fried Chicken Recipe Is All That & More (4 Ingredients)

Crispy baked chicken is kind of my thing. I've lost track of how many baked chicken recipes I've shared on 30Seconds. Lately I've been craving Middle Eastern spices, which turned into this quick, easy and budget-friendly chicken dinner.

The ingredient list is really short for this chicken recipe. All you need to gather is your bone-in chicken pieces, flour, curry powder and an onion, which is optional (see Recipe Notes). The chicken is seasoned with salt and black pepper before being dredged in the flour and curry powder. Misting with nonstick cooking spray helps the skin get crispy and golden brown. This chicken is full of flavor and so aromatic!

While this low-sodium chicken bakes in the oven, prepare whatever side dish you would like. I served mine with a viral TikTok crispy potato salad and broccoli. Coconut rice would be delicious and complement this chicken so well. Next time!

Cuisine: American / Middle Eastern

Recipe Notes

  • I cooked two huge (huge!) bone-in chicken breasts. If you are cooking less chicken pieces, you can reduce the flour and curry to 1/4 cup flour and 1 heaping tablespoon curry powder. I had a lot of flour leftover that I had to throw away.
  • The cooking time will depend on how big your chicken pieces are, if they're wings, legs, breasts or thighs, and your oven. Chicken is cooked at 165 degrees F internal temperature. Invest in a meat thermometer if you're not sure.
  • I used my round Le Creuset baking dish, but you could use any ovenproof skillet or even a cast iron skillet.
  • The onions are not required, but they do get soft and caramelized and soak up the chicken drippings and curry powder flavor. They're delicious served with the chicken.
  • I used olive oil cooking spray.
  • For some color, sprinkle with parsley flakes.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine the flour and curry powder in a bowl.
  2. Season the chicken on both sides with salt and black pepper.
  3. Optional Step: Put a layer of sliced onions on the bottom of a baking dish. If you don't want to use onions, just spray the bottom with some nonstick cooking spray.
  4. Dredge the chicken in the seasoned flour and place in the baking dish.
  5. Mist the top of the chicken with nonstick cooking spray.
  6. Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for 30 to 45 minutes, or until chicken is crisp and cooked through (165 degrees F internal temperature).
