Quick Hoisin Meatballs Recipe Helps You Step Out of the Box

Meatballs are usually a family favorite. We know meatball recipes are always a fan favorite on 30Seconds. Instead of your traditional Italian meatballs and spaghetti or meatball casserole, why not step out of the box with these Asian-inspired hoisin meatballs? These meatballs are simple to prep and cook, and are moist, juicy and flavorful.

To make these meatballs you will need lean ground beef, hoisin sauce, low-sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, breadcrumbs, green onions, parsley, garlic, fresh ginger, rice wine vinegar and honey. These meatballs can be served as a main dish for dinner over rice or noodles, or as an appetizer with toothpicks.

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced or grated fresh ginger

  • You could use ground turkey instead of ground beef.
  • Serve these hoisin meatballs as a main dish or as an appetizer with toothpicks.

Here's how to make it: 

  1. Put all the meatball ingredients into a mixing bowl. Mix well to combine. Shape into 1-inch meatballs and put onto a baking sheet that's been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 20 minutes or until cooked through.
  2. While the meatballs bake, combine all the sauce ingredients in a saucepot. Cook over low heat until warm. 
  3. When the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and stir to coat. Garnish with chopped green onions, minced from chives or sesame seeds, if desired.
