Juicy Italian Pesto Burgers Recipe Is What to Sink Your Teeth Into by 30Seconds Food

For this grilled pesto burger you will need ground beef, basil pesto, mozzarella cheese, hamburger buns, red onion, fresh garden tomatoes, arugula and mayonnaise or garlic aioli. There is pesto in the patty itself and drizzled on the burger when it is assembled. Yum!

You can use jarred basil pesto or homemade basil pesto for this incredible burger. You can also change up the toppings to your own tastes. This is a quick lunch or dinner, on the table in about 30 minutes. Serve these ground beef pesto burgers with your favorite side dishes.

Ingredients

• 1 pound (16 ounces) ground beef
• 1 cup basil pesto (divided)
• sliced mozzarella cheese
• 4 hamburger buns
• sliced red onion
• sliced tomatoes
• arugula
• mayonnaise or garlic aioli

Recipe Notes

• Use provolone or your favorite cheese instead of mozzarella.

• If you don't have a grill, cook the burger patties in a skillet.

• Use homemade basil pesto or jarred pesto.

• If you don't have or like arugula, use shredded lettuce or baby spinach.

Here's how to make it: 

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and 1/3 cup of the pesto. Season with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into four patties. 
2. Heat the grill to medium-high. Grill the burgers, flipping a couple times, until cooked to desired doneness. Add cheese at the end of cooking time and let it melt. 
3. Toast the hamburger buns, if desired. Spread some mayonnaise on the bottom bun. Top with tomato slices, red onion, the burger patty, then drizzle with basil pesto. Top with a handful of fresh arugula. Add the top bun.
