My family loves pizza, so we have pizza night for dinner quite often. But there's not a pizza dude knocking on our door because we make it from scratch for dinner.
After perfecting my pizza dough and learning just the right amount of ingredients to layer on to make the perfect pizza, I decided to give my pizza sauce a redo. Here's a homemade pizza sauce recipe a friend shared with me that could not be easier to make, but makes a huge difference on your pie.
Here's the basic, simple ingredients you need for this no-cook pizza sauce recipe: a can of tomato sauce, a can of tomato paste, dried Italian seasoning, dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, garlic salt, granulated sugar and crushed red pepper flakes. The ingredients are stirred together and ... well ... that's it. Stir them together and it's ready to be used on your store-bought or homemade pizza dough.
This no-cook pizza sauce can also be used when making calzones and stromboli.
Did you know tomato sauce has health benefits? Tomato paste, too!
Cuisine: Italian
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 15 ounces (1 can) tomato sauce
- 6 ounces (1 can) tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Here's how to make it:
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix well. (You could use Tuscan or Mediterranean seasoning in place of the Italian seasoning. For a lower-sodium sauce, use low-sodium or no-salt tomato sauce and low-sodium tomato paste.)
- Use on your favorite pizza recipe. Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge.
