When squid ink (also called cuttlefish ink) is added to pasta dough, you not only get a black-colored pasta, but a flavorful one as well. Think salty and sweet. If you're feeling adventurous, here's an easy recipe to try.

Ingredients
- 2 cups pasta flour
- 2 whole eggs
- 3 egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons squid ink
Here's how to make it:
- Put the flour into a large bowl.
- In a small bowl, combine the whole eggs, yolks and squid ink.
- Slowly incorporate the egg-squid ink mixture into the flour with your hands until it creates a dough.
- Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- After the hour, remove the dough from the fridge and allow it to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- With a rolling pin, roll the pasta dough so it fits into a pasta roller.
- Pass the dough through the pasta roller until you achieve desired thickness.
- Using a pasta cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into desired pasta (spaghetti noodles, fettuccine, pappardelle, etc.)
- Cook the dough in boiling, salted water until al dente or desired doneness. Serve with your favorite pasta sauce.
