Summer means frozen treats, snacks and desserts! Granita is an Italian semi-frozen flavored ice that originated in Sicily. The types of granita are endless. If you've never made granita, this watermelon granita recipe is the perfect place to start.
Watermelon is a healthy fruit (check out the health benefits of watermelon) and help keep you hydrated. The perfect cold, fruity snack for July 4th, right? (But you still need to drink plenty of water!)
To make this easy watermelon granita recipe you only need three simple ingredients. Here is your gluten-free shopping list: fresh watermelon, fresh limes for juicing and granulated sugar. Watermelon chunks are blended with lime juice and sugar in a blender, then poured into a baking pan and popped into the freezer. You do have to stir it every now and then, but that's it!
Serve this sweet watermelon granita as a sweet, hydrating snack or even as a lighter dessert after dinner.
