Recipe Notes
- Granny Smith work well because they don't get mushy when baked, but you can use your favorite apples.
- Add some ground cinnamon for extra flavor.
- Thaw the puff pastry dough according to package directions.
Here’s how to make it:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry to about 1/16-inch thickness. Cut dough into four 6-inch rounds. Transfer rounds to the baking sheet and use a fork to prick dough all over. Chill for 15 minutes or more.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange apple slices on dough rounds. Fold dough up creating a border around the apples. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Brush apples with butter and then sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake tarts until apples are tender and pastry is crisp, approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
