One of my resolutions this year is to eat more foods from around the world. My dad is mostly German, so I grew up eating German food my Grammy cooked. One food she never cooked was currywurst. But who doesn't like sausage with a dipping sauce? Plus I love curry, which is a main player in this German sausage recipe, so it had to happen.
Currywurst is a fast food dish from Germany that's sausage covered in a curry ketchup. Currywurst is usually served with french fries, but would also be delicious over mashed potatoes or hash browns.
To make this easy currywurst recipe, you will need to gather these simple ingredients from your fridge and pantry: bratwurst sausages, olive oil, ketchup, chicken broth, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, curry powder, smoked paprika and optional ground cayenne for a little spice.
While great served during Oktoberfest, currywurst would also be fun eaten during a big game or at family get-togethers any time of the year. I bet everyone will love this flavorful German sausage dish for dinner, as an appetizer or for anytime snacking, and that you will get recipe requests.
