DIY Suet Bird Seed Cake Recipe: How to Make Homemade Suet Cakes for the Birds

If you love feeding the birds and bird watching, you've got to make this homemade suet cake for your feathered friends. The recipe makes one 4x4-inch cake.

Ingredients

Here's how to make it:

  1. In a bowl warm the fat and nut butter together in the microwave. Stir to combine.
  2. Stir in the bird seed. Pour into a flexible mold. Chill.
  3. Pop out and feed it to the birds.

Chef Gale Gand's completed homemade suet cake.

Tip: Buy a premade suet cake and save the plastic holder to use as your mold. It will be the perfect size for a suet cage.
