Do you ever catch yourself saying or acting in a way that reminds you of your parents? Even when you vowed not to? Have you noticed similarities between your parents and your partner or friends? Are there similar coping styles or personalities? 

Childhood is the vital period when we learn about coping skills, the world, relationships and develop values. It’s natural that we are naturally drawn towards qualities or situations that we are familiar with from our past. This is important to keep in mind when we are role-modeling for our children. 

Are we encouraging them to carry on the best habits?
