Already Thinking About Your New Year's Resolutions for 2022? Before You Make a Resolution Read This Mindfulness

It is that time of year when we start to think ahead to the new year. 2020 and 2021 have been years like no other. Who wouldn't want things to be different for 2022?

While it might be tempting to think about all of the things you would like to do in the new year, I suggest pausing and being mindful about accepting that sometimes it is better to simply live in the moment. Sometimes people tend to look ahead in their lives to plan for change, but there is no better time for change than the moment you're in.

What I am suggesting is making small steps toward change – right now. Trying to pack in all the things you want to do when the calendar changes is a recipe for failure. So many people resolve to lose weight, eat better, exercise more, stay in touch with friends and family more, etc. All of these changes are good but using the new year to flip the switch almost never works.

What works is making small changes today.

  • Go for a walk.
  • Meditate.
  • Call a friend.
  • Eat something healthy.

Today. Then do it tomorrow. And the day after that. It then becomes habit. The key is not to wait until tomorrow, until the new year, until whenever. The day for change is today.

"...there is no better time for change than the moment you're in." I love this, Dawn Taylor . So true. Every moment we breathe, we have a choice for how to be in that moment. Thank you for that important reminder to not wait. Tomorrow isn't promised.

Thank you Elisa A. Schmitz 30Seconds
Looking ahead can be daunting and the longer you delay change the harder it is in my opinion.
