Forget Resolutions! Why You Should Pick a Word or Phrase to Define the New Year Motherhood Holidays

Jan Mostrom

Instead of making New Year's resolutions, try picking a word or phrase to shape your year. One of my 30Seconds tribe members did this last year and picked "gratitude," focusing daily on something to be grateful for. I've chosen "Let Go and Let God." I've realized that I hold tightly to many things and I need to remind myself that I'm not in control. I'm not in control of:

  • My kids' health issues.
  • That crazy driver.
  • Really, not of much at all!

As you think about your busy days, what would you like to be different? Would you like to laugh more, surrender, organize? Thread it through your days and see what happens!

LOVE this, Jan Mostrom! Think all of the 30Seconds tribe should do this and share their word as a tip! Let's do this!

Awesome awesome awesome! I agree, Jan Mostrom and Donna John! I have to think about what mine is...

This speaks to me, @janmostrom. It speaks more about an essence rather than an activity or behavior like New Year's Resolutions do. That's why resolutions don't work. You can't permanently change a behavior without getting behind the behavior or to what the behavior is trying to express, like "Let go and Let God." That can permeate your being. I have thought about this today. And mine is to, " embrace myself fully," especially regarding a new endeavor I am embarking upon. Thanks for a great tip.

Let go and let God. Love it Jan Mostrom My word will be Believe as a reminder that my true work is to believe in the one He has sent. (John 6:29) Not just in mind but also in my heart and actions. Thanks for the great tip!!
