Always Anxious? 5 Ways to Navigate Your Emotions & Reduce Anxiety! by Kelli Schulte
We all experience some degree of anxiety. Learning how to recognize, accept and navigate anxiety will provide greater insight and a deeper level of understanding and self-awareness. Whether you're experiencing anxiety yourself, or you are helping someone else, there are many techniques to help calm anxious feelings. Here are my top five:
- Know you are not alone.
- Consider what is causing the anxiety. What insight are you gaining from the situation?
- Repeat a phrase that focuses on moving forward. When I'm feeling overwhelmed I say, "It feels hard now, but I will get through this."
- Focus on something exciting. "I can't wait for..."
- Put your worry "on a shelf" with plans to come back to it while you shift your focus.
