All you need to make this homemade salad dressing is cottage cheese, mayo or Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice, onion powder, garlic powder and fresh chives or parsley.

Drizzle this gluten-free cottage cheese salad dressing over lettuce, arugula, kale, baby spinach or your favorite salad greens. It's also a delicious dip for vegetables, chips and other appetizers. You could even use it as a sandwich spread.

Ingredients

• 1 cup cottage cheese (low-fat or nonfat) 
• 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or plain Greek yogurt
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or to taste)
• 1 tablespoon water
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives or parsley

Recipe Notes

• If you like a thinner salad dressing, add more water.

• Drizzling the salad dressing with a little olive oil adds more richness and nutrition. Try it!

• Store the salad dressing in a salad dressing cruet, mason jar or an airtight container.

Here's how to make it: 

1. Put the cottage cheese, mayonnaise or yogurt, lemon juice, water, onion powder and garlic powder into a blender. Blend until smooth.
2. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Stir in the chives or parsley. Drizzle with a little olive oil, if desired.
