Ingredients
- 1 refrigerated pie crust, thawed
Filling
- 1 1/2 cups chopped peeled apples
- 3 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Egg Wash
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
Drizzle
- 3 tablespoons caramel topping, warmed
Recipe Notes
- You can make individual galettes by forming the dough into small rounds (as pictured). Adjust baking time, if needed.
- Use whatever kind of apple you like for this recipe.
- Love cinnamon? Increase the cinnamon to 1 teaspoon. You could also add other warm baking spices like cardamom, allspice, nutmeg and cloves.
Here's how to make it:
- Press or roll the pie crust into a 10-inch circle on a parchment paper-covered baking sheet.
- Combine all the filling ingredients. Spoon the filling over the crust leaving a 2-inch border.
- Fold up the edges of the pie crust all the way around, leaving the center uncovered.
- Combine the egg and water. Brush over the crust.
- Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and drizzle with the caramel sauce, if desired.
