To make this fresh cherry recipe you need to gather the following ingredients: a pie crust, fresh cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemons for juicing and an egg to create an egg wash with (simply water and egg stirred together).

Ingredients

• 1 ready-made pie crust, softened, or your favorite homemade crust
• 3 cups fresh cherries, pitted and cut in half
• 1/3 cup granulated sugar
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
• egg wash (here's how to make an egg wash)
• granulated sugar, for dusting
• powdered sugar (optional)

Recipe Notes

• Try this recipe with other fruits like apricots, apples, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and even bananas.

• For easier cleanup, cover the baking sheet with parchment paper.

• You can easily dust the powdered sugar on the galette with a mesh strainer. Simply shake it over the dessert.

• Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave.

Here’s how to make it:

1. Press or roll the pie crust into a circle that's about 14 to 15 inches. Place on a baking sheet.
2. Combine the cherries, 1/3 cup sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice. Spoon into the center of the pie dough circle. Fold the edges up to create a border.
3. Brush the pie crust with the egg wash. Sprinkle it with a little sugar.
4. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for about 1 hour. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
