Cuisine: American / Mexican / Tex-Mex
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 ounce (1 packet) taco seasoning
- 1/2 - 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 14.5 ounces (1 can) fire-roasted tomatoes (do not drain)
- 14.5 ounces (1 can) pinto beans (do not drain)
Optional Toppings
- corn chips or tortilla chips
- sour cream
- grated cheese
- chopped red onion
- chopped green onions
- jalapenos
- fresh cilantro
- chopped avocado
Here's how to make it:
- Put the turkey and onion into a soup pot. Cook, breaking up the turkey as you stir, until turkey is cooked through. Add the taco seasoning and chili powder halfway through browning. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. (You could use ground beef instead of turkey. Don't like onion? Leave it out. If you like finer meat in your chili, use a potato masher.)
- Add the tomatoes with their juice and the undrained pinto beans. (You could use regular diced tomatoes.)
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for a few minutes to heat through.
- Taste and add more chili powder, if needed.
- Ladle the chili into bowls and top with your desired toppings. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave.
