When football season hits, so do my appetizer cravings. Who doesn't love sitting down to watch the games with a spread of delicious appetizers in front of them? A new one for me this year is this creamy imitation crab dip recipe. The hot or cold dip recipe is ready to go in about 10 minutes, and can be served cold, at room temperature or warm. That's perfect for entertaining because it always tastes just right.
To make this simple seafood recipe, you'll need to grab the following ingredients from your fridge and pantry: cream cheese, a lemon for juicing, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, green onions, imitation crab meat, mayonnaise, salt and black pepper. For serving, you'll need crackers, bread or celery sticks.
This budget-friendly recipe (real crab meat is expensive) will keep your friends and family coming back for more on game days, family get-togethers and even on holidays. Be sure to share the recipe – and good luck to your favorite team!
Cuisine: American

Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 12
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (or to taste)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 6 ounces imitation crab meat, shredded or diced
- 1 - 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- salt and black pepper, to taste
Recipe Notes
- Imitation crab meat comes in legs, flakes, chunks or shreds. I used chunks and diced it up with a sharp knife.
- Shredding or dicing the crab meat will affect the texture of the dip. Dicing will result in a chunkier dip, while thinner shreds will make a smoother dip. Do what you like.
- If serving the dip cold, serve straight out of the fridge. If serving room temperature, take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before serving. For warm or hot dip, microwave until it reaches desired temperature.
- For a little heat, add your favorite hot sauce. I like to add Tabasco sauce.
- Store the dip in an airtight container in the fridge.
Here's how to make it:
- Put the softened cream cheese into a medium mixing bowl and stir until creamy.
- Add the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and green onions. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste.
- Stir well to combine.
- Stir in the crab meat.
- Add the mayonnaise until it reaches desired creaminess. Taste and adjust seasonings.
- Serve cold, at room temperature or warm with crackers, bread or celery sticks.
