Drool-Worthy Honey Orange Dijon Baked Salmon Recipe (4 Ingredients, 20 Minutes) by Elisa Schmitz

Drool-Worthy Honey Orange Dijon Baked Salmon Recipe (4 Ingredients, 20 Minutes)

When I find a salmon recipe I like, it's fun to try variations of the recipe to see if I can find a way to like it even more. That's exactly what happened when I made this easy honey orange Dijon baked salmon recipe.

Instead of using my old standby, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, I tried fresh-squeezed orange juice. The result? A bright, sweet, citrusy salmon recipe that's positively drool-worthy!

I like this honey orange salmon recipe even more than the honey lemon version, and that's saying a lot. The sweetness of honey combines with the bright citrus notes of orange juice and the distinct flavor of Dijon mustard to create an irresistibly moist and savory seafood dinner that you will crave. Bonus: it's ready in only about 20 minutes!

Here's your simple shopping list for this seafood dinner recipe: fresh salmon, honey, fresh-squeezed orange juice and Dijon mustard. That's it! You prepare the sauce then spoon it over the salmon in a baking dish. You bake the salmon for about 15 minutes then serve it with your favorite side dishes. It doesn't get much easier than that!

I served this gluten-free salmon for dinner with a side of fresh vegetables for a low-sodium, low-calorie, low-carb meal. But, it would be equally happy served over your favorite grain or pasta. It looks impressive but it's easy enough to make anytime you get the craving!

Recipe Notes

  • I squeezed my own fresh orange juice, but you can use bottled fresh-squeezed orange juice in a pinch.
  • Feel free to use more or less Dijon mustard, depending on your tastes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Any leftover salmon tastes great in this easy salmon spread recipe.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Place the salmon filet in a casserole dish or baking pan (I lined mine with aluminum foil for easier cleanup). Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
  2. In a small mixing bowl or measuring cup, add the honey, orange juice and mustard. Stir to combine and create the sauce.
  3. Pour the sauce over the salmon, ensuring the salmon is covered in the sauce.
  4. Bake the salmon at 375 degrees F for about 15 minutes, or until desired doneness. Salmon is done when it reaches 145 degrees F on a food thermometer.
  5. Remove from oven and serve with your favorite vegetables or side dishes.

Drool-worthy is right, Elisa Schmitz ! But when you're paying $16/# for salmon, when it's on sale...😕. Think I'll have to wait until my friend goes to the coast of B.C. fishing this summer. He loads a chest type freezer in the back of his truck, to store all the fish they've caught, which taken to the plant for processing. The plant gives it back fully cleaned, fileted if desired, and frozen, in vacuum sealed packages. Fortunately, he shares his bounty, including the ones he's smoked. Unfortunately, he and his wife don't usually come home until mid October. Looks like I've got a long wait, unless the price drops drastically. 😪
