Recipe Notes

  • If you want thicker treats, use a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  • Use the butter wrapper to press the cereal into the pan. If you don't have a butter wrapper, use buttered hands or a buttered spatula.
  • If you don't want them as chocolatey, use regular puffed rice cereal.
  • Store the cereal treats in an airtight container.
  • You can use milk chocolate, dark chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Melt the butter over low heat in a large pot. Add 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips and stir to melt.
  2. Add the marshmallows and stir until melted. Turn off the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Add the cereal and stir until well combined. Stir in 1/2 cup more of the chocolate chips.
  4. Press the mixture into a buttered 13x9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle the top with the remaining chocolate chips. Let them cool completely before cutting into squares.

Terry
Not so easy at the moment, Elisa Schmitz !I've put it on my "to make" list, once my fractured kneecap and I can get out of bed for more than trips to the bathroom. Until then, it's #drooling 🙃
