Canned pie filling and refrigerated pie crusts. This could be one of the easiest cherry pie recipes around. And who doesn't love a cherry pie on Thanksgiving? This shortcut recipe is a classic that has stood the test of time.
To make this classic cherry pie recipe you will need pie crusts, cherry pie filling, granulated sugar and an egg or milk to brush the pie crust before baking. The pie filing is simply poured into the pie crust and baked.
Want to get fancy? Cut the top crust into strips and make a lattice design with the pie crust. Don't have time to get fancy? We understand. Grandma's cherry pie will taste just as delicious.
Serve this cherry pie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Ingredients
- 1 box refrigerated pie crusts, softened
- 42 ounces (2 cans) cherry pie filling
- egg wash or milk
- granulated sugar, for sprinkling (optional, but recommended)
Here’s how to make it:
- Lay one crust inside a pie plate and form to fit. (Place the pie on a baking sheet to make it easier to put into the oven and remove when it's done baking.)
- Pour in the pie filling.
- Top with the second crust. Seal and flute the edges. Cut a few slits in the top.
- Brush with the egg wash or milk and sprinkle with some sugar.
- Bake in a preheated 425-degree F oven until crust is golden, about 40 minutes. Cool about an hour before serving. Store the pie covered in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave.
