Make your favorite cupcake recipe, sugar cookie or cake recipe and frost them with this creamy pumpkin cream cheese frosting recipe. This creamy pumpkin pie frosting recipe really is the icing on the cake.
To make this pumpkin icing you will need just six simple ingredients. Here is what you need to gather from the fridge and pantry: cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla extract. Beat the ingredients together and then get to frosting that cake, batch of cupcakes or pumpkin cookies (sugar cookies work well, too!).

Ingredients
- 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/3 cup pumpkin pie puree
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

- Make sure the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature before starting the recipe.
- Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the fridge. Let it come to room temperature before using.
Here’s how to make it:
- Put the cream and butter in a mixing bowl. Beat until combined with an electric mixer or whisk.
- Slowly add the powdered sugar and continue to beat.
- Add cinnamon, pumpkin and vanilla. Beat until thoroughly combined. Add more powdered sugar if it’s not as thick as you’d like it.
