DIY Hot Chocolate Bar: Perfect When the Weather Outside Is Frightful! by Christine Jones

DIY Hot Chocolate Bar: Perfect When the Weather Outside Is Frightful!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but a hot chocolate bar is so delightful! One of my favorite things to do on cold winter days is to create a hot chocolate bar for the kids! I set out toppings like:

  • sprinkles
  • chocolate chips
  • marshmallows
  • butterscotch chips
  • whipped cream

Let the kids go to town! They really get into creating their own special versions and oftentimes it leads to us sitting around the table talking and laughing about our day. I take great pleasure watching them try to pile their cups high with whipped cream and marshmallows. If you have younger kids, you can even have them dress up in their best princess and superhero costumes for this hot cocoa event!

Another fun idea, which is always a hit with friends, is to create a boozy adult hot chocolate bar at your next holiday gathering. In addition to sprinkles and candy toppings, put out things like:

  • Kahlua
  • Bailey’s
  • peppermint schnapps
  • cinnamon liqueur
  • flavored vodka

I promise you this will delight your guests. It's perfect after a day of skiing or in place of dessert at your next dinner party!
