Panda Express Sweet Fire Chicken Copycat Recipe: On the Table in Less Than 30 Minutes

If you're looking for a Panda Express copycat recipe of their sweet fire chicken, you can stop Googling. This easy sweet and spicy Asian chicken recipe takes about 25 minutes to throw together.

Serve this easy chicken stir fry recipe with rice for a quick weeknight dinner, with no drive-thru required.

Cuisine: Asian
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • flour or cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • oil, for frying
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups pineapple chunks
  • 3 - 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1 cup sweet Thai chili sauce (on the Asian food aisle)
  • Sriracha (optional)
  • rice

Here's how to make it:

  1. Dredge the chicken chunks in the flour or cornstarch, then into the beaten eggs, then back into the flour or cornstarch. Cook in hot oil until golden and crispy. Drain chicken on paper towels and set aside. Pour out excess oil in pan.
  2. To the same pan, add the red bell pepper, pineapple chunks and green onion. Cook, stirring, about 3 minutes. Add the chicken back to the pan along with the sweet Thai chili sauce and optional squirt or two (or three!) of Sriracha. Heat through. Serve over rice.

One of my favorites! My husband loves sweet Thai chili sauce and puts it on a lot of things. So, this is one of his favorite meals. Let me know if you try it!

The situation is a sweet sauce do we add to it or is it on the side can we use a couscous instead of rice or or it's just signature to the recipe I want to try it soon and share the results thank you
Donna John
Rosseyes I make it just as the recipe states, and do serve it with rice. You could serve it on whatever you like, though. We love it! My husband eats Panda Express a lot when he's at the office, so wanted to recreate some at home.
