What a wonderful tip, Mindy Hudon, M.S., CCC-SLP! With so many kids on digital devices these days, starting at early ages, we need to remember what's important for healthy kids' development. And reading together certainly tops that list, thanks!

Giving children time to talk and tell you a story or just about their day is critical. It also teaches kids that you are their to listen.

This is a wonderful tip. Storytelling is KEY to so many developmental milestones. I can still see, in my mind, the many hours sitting with my sons, reading, reading and more reading. Now, they are ferocious readers on their own. I miss them on my lap.

Thanks Beth, I miss lap time too! My fondest memories were bedtime books! I also loved to develop our own stories. "Once upon a time..." They loved creating stories about themselves on adventures.
