In these turbulent times, I look for inspiration and optimism in many forms on a daily basis, especially with my children. I took them to see Disney's Christopher Robin, and as my 4-year-old snuggled into my arm, she whispered that she loved Winnie the Pooh. When I asked why, she answered because he’s always happy and he likes honey.
Simple, direct and perfect. That’s all I needed. I went home dug up a few of my favorite Pooh moments and we read them together – and smiled.
Pooh: "What day is it?”
Christopher Robin: “It’s today."
Pooh: "My favorite day.”
Piglet: “How do you spell ‘love?'”
Pooh: “You don’t spell it, you feel it.”
Piglet: “The things that make me different are the things that make me, ME.”
Christopher Robin: “You’re braver than you believe and stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”
Pooh: “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
Pooh: “If you live to be a hundred, I want to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.”
If quotes from Winnie the Pooh and friends could be placed all over our lives and acted upon daily, the world would be a much better place.
