College Admissions Scandal Sentencing: Felicity Huffman Got a Slap on the Wrist

Yes, Felicity Huffman was seemingly remorseful. Yes, she told the truth and said she’d take the consequences, but if I hear one more person say she didn’t do anything wrong I will lose my mind.

She lied and she bribed someone to give her daughter an advantage to attend college.

Some are saying many parents get accommodations for their kids. They do. But the difference is they go the proper route to do so. Bribery and fiddling with test scores are criminal.

Had she gone through the proper channels to get accommodations she thought her daughter needed, then she would not be in the position she’s in. She acted as though her privilege afforded her special treatment. It is a travesty on its own and aside from any criminal culpability.

There, I said my piece. Huffman should be very grateful she wasn’t given more time.

This story just confuses and amazes me. Scratching my head over these parents, celebrity or not! 🤔

Dawn Taylor, I so agree with you! Blows my mind this happened! The other night at my sons high school I attended Parents Senior Meeting and I was sitting next to Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin). The counselors were explaining something that she didn't understand that we were chatting about. Then she just said I'll just ask my person that I'm paying $2,000 to do all the college stuff for my kid. I thought to myself I hope she isn't pulling an Aunt Becky. That would be awful. How did Felicity Huffman and others think that this was the best way to go about helping their kids with the college application, SAT process. What kind of role model is that?! Thanks for sharing, you are not alone.

Meredith Schneider it makes my blood boil!! Teach kids to do the work otherwise they just become privileged adults. I felt so bad for her daughter.

Preach, Dawn Taylor ! It's truly mind boggling how they thought this was OK (and maybe she knew it wasn't OK but did it anyway). I heard that her daughter cried and asked why her mother didn't just believe in her. EXACTLY! In her defense, I am glad that she admitted it right away and threw herself on the mercy of the court. She didn't try to make herself look better or say she did nothing wrong (even though others may say that). She admitted it and she says she lives with guilt and shame every day. I think of the parents we have heard from about this, she is expressing the most remorse and shame at what she did. So, there's that?! Meredith Schneider

Elisa All Schmitz 30Seconds I think it was both. The easy way out - or in, in this case. But so wrong and such a terrible example to her daughter. I do believe she felt remorse but that punishment was important to set a precedent for this type of thing. It makes me angry to think of how many worthy kids in the past who were overlooked due to this process of lies and doctoring of documents. Very sad indeed.
