#30Seconds Live: Chicago Toy & Game Fair With Toy Inventor Nick Metzler From Spin Master! by Elisa All Schmitz 30Seconds
Nick Metzler, a toy designer with Spin Master, not only works for the company that invented the amazing game, Soggy Doggy, but has an amazing and inspiring story. But first, let’s talk about the game, Soggy Doggy! Soggy Doggy, invented by Don Ullman and Steve Calhoun, won a Tagie Award at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG) and also won “Game of the Year” in the Netherlands!
With Soggy Doggy, the question is: Who will get soaked first? Find out when you play Soggy Doggy, the showering, shaking, wet doggy game! Move your players around the board and take turns bathing this pup. But be careful! He loves to shake himself dry. If Soggy Doggy shakes all over you, wipe yourself off and head back to the start. The first one around the board wins! This anticipation-filled game of splishy splashy fun is great for kids and adults alike. So, gather the family and get ready for a hilarious and exciting time with Soggy Doggy!
Now on to Nick’s inspiring story. In 2010, he entered the ChiTAG Young Inventors Challenge with his game, That’s Cheating. “The whole point of the game was cheating, and the best cheater wins. It basically breaks the taboo of the entire thing,” says Nick. Nick won! And then he began serving as public relations for growing the Young Inventors Challenge. In 2011, he entered again with a game called Squashed, and it made it into market when a company called PlaSmart picked it up. The game went global and Nick ended up winning Young Inventor of the Year for the game in the industry. Told you it was an inspiring and amazing story!
