Easter Crafts for Kids: How to Make Bunny & Chicken Spoon Puppets

This easy spoon puppet craft is a fun spring family activity. How cute is this bunny and chick? They are really easy to  make, but do require supervision or help with cutting the construction paper and felt.

After you make these spoon puppets with your kids, have a puppet show. What a great tradition to start for Easter day!

You'll need:

Here's how to make them:

  1. Have your child draw on the bunny face using a marker.
  2. Cut two round circles for the body out of white felt or construction paper. Lay the spoon on top of one, put some glue around the edges and place the second circle on top (see image below).
  3. For the bunny, cut two ears out of white construction paper. Color the insides of the ears pink (or whatever color your child wants!). Glue the ears to the back of the spoon. Cut a small embellishment out of construction paper to go on the bunny's neck (flower, bow tie, regular tie, etc.). Glue it on. Cut a rectangular piece of green construction and then with scissors cut almost to the bottom all the way across to create the grass. Glue it to the front of the bunny.
  4. For the chicken, cut a beak and gobbler out of red construction paper. Glue them on. Cut two wings out of white construction paper and glue them to the back of the spoon. Cut a small embellishment out for the chicken's neck and glue it on. Make the grass the same way you did for the bunny and glue it on the front. Add two eyes with a black marker.

This is so cute Donna John and it looks easy enough that I can even do it! We're drowning in plastic spoons so I'm going to have the kids make these on Thursday when they're on break!
