The End of Dieting: How Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Eating Plan Is Working for Me Nutrition Weight Loss
Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book, "The End of Dieting: How to Live for Life," will get a lot of people healthy. He promotes a way of eating that is loaded with green veggies (especially cruciferous), beans, onions and their plant relatives, mushrooms, berries and seeds (G-BOMBS). His research claims how each of these foods improves physiological conditions that prevent cancer, lower blood sugar and help with weight loss. I do not have any of these conditions, but thought I'd give it a try to see how I felt when eating a diet loaded with these foods. Here's how a typical day looks:
- Breakfast: Cooked oats with flax seeds and berries and a plate of water-sauteed veggies and tempeh or beans.
- Lunch: A large salad of lightly steamed veggies (at least three different kinds), mushrooms, red onion, beans or tempeh, avocado, walnuts and half of an apple for dessert.
- Dinner: At least two veggies steamed, lentil soup, pumpkin seeds and half a cup of brown rice.
Notice there is no added oil – the fats come from seeds, nuts and avocado.
How do I feel? Surprisingly, I am not hungry! My energy feels, well, sustained, and my digestion/elimination is more efficient. Pick up his book and give it a try! Comment how you feel after a few days.
